this is one of the first group shots I took of The Strokes on the day that I met them…January 16, 2001! This is in the courtyard of my building on 16th street.
my friend Dan pointed something interesting out at the forum, and why I think this may be their most appropriate artwork yet -
- “This label was used from the introduction of the Red Seal LP in 1950 through the latter part of 1954.”
This album artwork is a trbute to the original seal and record albums that began in the 50s, which I think represents The Strokes’ intention of having a more retro sound with Comedown Machine. I love their minimalist, subtle approach to this cover.
